A FAMILY of four has revealed how they manage to live in a $20,000 tiny home.

The bold decision has enabled them to live debt-free, but it didn’t come without hurdles from local authorities.

Drew, his wife Stephanie, and their children Lucy and Matthew live in a tiny home situated on a micro-farm in central Pennsylvania.

In a recent video for the YouTube channel Tiny House Expedition, they gave a tour of their property.

The house is just over 200 square feet, with one loft bedroom where they all sleep together.

While the small kitchen has no oven, they use an air fryer, saving space for a washer, a refrigerator, and a freezer.

The staircase also doubles up as a closet and additional storage.

And there’s a small bathroom at the back of the house with a bespoke sink that drains straight back into the toilet.

“Raising kids in a tiny house, it’s a challenge for sure,” admitted mom Stephanie.

But for this family, the tiny home has been life-changing financially.

Drew explained: “We wanted our own space and we wanted to not have a mortgage. We didn’t want to have to put out all that money every month.”

He and Stephanie saved for years to buy the custom-built home for $20,000 in cash, while the land was $18,000.

I converted a tiny narrow garage into a luxe bedroom with its own living room and even an ensuite

“We own the land, we own the house, and that was really important to me,” said Drew.

But making their tiny home dream come true was not without its setbacks.

Normal building regulations in the area require new homes to be at least 500 square feet.

However, Drew and Stephanie made a successful plea to the zoning board, explaining that their tiny home would be a full-time home and would look beautiful.

With the neighbors raising no objections, it was approved a month later.

MORE TINY HOME FAMILIES

This Pennsylvania family is not the only one to decide that a smaller living space is a better set up.

Krystine and Bruce live in a $100,000 eco-RV with their two daughters.

The home is nestled in the woods outside Ontario, Canada, not far from homes that usually cost $800,000.

“This allows me to stay home with our kids and homeschool and be with them all the time,” Krystine said.

Another tiny home fan lives in a floating house for just $200 a month.
