Americans in this group will get the new Social Security during today
The Social Security Administration sends out the last of the February 2024 retiree payments today. If you have a retirement benefit in the United States there is a way to get the check in your checking account today.
In order to do this you will need to meet three exact requirements. If you meet them, a check for up to $4,873 from Social Security could appear in your checking account. If you don’t meet them, it means that the benefit should have arrived earlier in the month of February.
The Social Security Administration divides retirees into different groups. In total, there are four groups of retirees who collect the benefit. And each of these groups gets its check on a different day.
So no matter which group you belong to, you will still have the money in your checking account. Each month you can have your Social Security money available, and today could be the day you get your new retirement check.
Which Americans can collect Social Security today?
Today, February 28, 2024 is Social Security collection day for thousands of United States citizens. In order to have check available today, several requirements must be met. There are two mandatory requirements and one extra requirement to be able to collect the payment on the same day it is sent, which is today.
In this regard, the requirements to get this payment are the following two:
- Have a retirement benefit since after 1997. The type of retirement does not matter. The amount of the check does not matter either. It only matters to have it since after that date.
- Have a birthday between the 21st and 31st of the month. The month and the year of birth do not matter. The only important fact is the day of the birthday.
- Activate Direct Deposit. Although this third requirement is not mandatory, it is essential to get the money as soon as possible. Only if we activate this option will the Social Security money appear in our checking account on the same day it is sent.
If you are in this group, the money should appear today. If you do not have Direct Deposit activated, the check will arrive in the next few days. What is certain is that you will be able to collect the check soon, so you don’t have to worry about it.
Also, the Social Security Administration will send out the Supplemental Security Income payment on March 1st. So, if you have this other benefit accepted, you will be able to enjoy both checks in the same week.
