A RETIREE has revealed how a tiny home is a crucial part of her thrifty golden years lifestyle.
The adorable property was custom built and leaves her and her husband with just $350 a month in living costs.
When Twilia and her husband retired at age 62, they knew they would have to downsize.
But it wasn’t until they came across the Tennessee-based company Incredible Tiny Homes that they realized a 235-square-foot home might be all they needed.
She recently gave a tour of their cozy abode to the YouTube channel Tiny House Giant Journey and explained why it has proved to be the right move in retirement.
Twilia chose a customized model from Incredible Tiny Homes that cost $56,000.

“This is my forever home, we had this built the way we wanted it built,” she said.
They park the home at The Forest, one of the four communities at Incredible Tiny Homes in east Tennessee.
They pay just $225 a month in land rent and water utilities to keep their tiny home there, spending another $125 for leftover bills like electricity and internet.
“To live here, on a beautiful lot, in the forest, close to the smoky mountains – it is a dream come true,” she said.
NON-NEGOTIABLES
And although the home is only 235 square feet, it contains everything Twilia and her husband want.
That includes an oven with a stovetop, a washer and a dryer, and even a miniature fireplace.
The pair have also made the most of their large plot with two outdoor sheds, a spacious patio, and an outdoor kitchen with grills and a smoker.
“Living in a tiny home has made life so much simpler,” said Twilia.
“You’re not having to maintain your home the way you do bigger homes – it’s an enjoyable life.”
TURNING TO TINY
Even if you’re not retired, living in a tiny home can be a great way to lower your housing costs and maintenance requirements.
Host of Tiny House Giant Journey Jenna Spesard has revealed how she spends just $132 a month on housing.
After buying her $30,000 home in cash, she negotiated a work exchange with a park owner to park it there rent-free.
Incredible Tiny Homes founder Randy Jones previously spoke to The U.S. Sun about the future of the tiny home movement.
