Find out if you are getting a new Social Security check in this week

Even though we are in the last week of February, the Social Security Administration of the United States will still send out one last check pertaining to this month’s calendar. This last check is only for a specific group of beneficiaries. Also, in the same week, the Administration will pay two other different checks.

In total, the United States Social Security Administration will pay three different checks before the end of the week. Whether or not you get them will depend on the benefits you have accepted, as well as the group of retirees to which you belong.

It is not enough to have one of these checks accepted to be able to obtain the benefit these days. To be exact, the Social Security Administration will pay three checks on February 28th and March 1st. On any of these days we could get one of the checks, although there are different benefits.

How to get a Social Security check this week?

In order to get one of the checks, the first thing to consider is the type of benefits. There are two benefits in total, which are Supplemental Security Income and Social Security retirement. In the area of retirement it does not matter if it is disability, widow’s, age or any other type.

Knowing this, let’s look at the mailing days and requirements for each payment.

  1. February 28th. Last Social Security payment this month. This payment is for post-1997 retirees with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of any month.
  2. March 1st. First payment sent by the Administration in March. The Supplemental Security Income payment is on this day for all Supplemental Security Income recipients.
  3. March 1st. Another payment on the same day in March. This is due to an irregularity, since March 3rd is a weekend. For this reason, retirees prior to May 1997 get their retirement payment on this day.

Knowing this, we only have to mark these days in the calendar in case we are part of the groups. If we have a benefit in either of the two groups and, in addition, Supplemental Security Income activated, we will be able to enjoy two different checks in the same week. If not, we may only get one of the checks.
