Hotel Lobby Candle introduces its new Napa Valley candle in collaboration with Solage, Auberge Resorts Collection. Its new fall fragrance inspired by harvest season is described as a warm, welcoming scent that brings together the soil of Northern California with the fruit of its vines and the French wood barrels in which its world-famous wine ages. An homage to Napa Valley, the iconic Auberge resort located in the heart of Northern California wine country, inspired Hotel Lobby Collection founder, Lindsey Silberman, to design this fall scent.
Silberman, former Town & Country editor, spent a decade as a luxury travel writer & expert before launching Hotel Lobby Collection in 2020. The brand was inspired by her “scent memories” from five-star hotels around the world. Unique and transportive, Hotel Lobby Candle’s fragrances—including candles, refillable reed diffusers, and hand wash—are designed to create a fancy hotel experience at home. “I first visited Solage on assignment for a magazine back in 2014, and immediately fell in love, not only with the property, but with the landscape that surrounded it. When I returned in 2022, during the peak of harvest season, it was even more magical than I had remembered. There’s a very specific scent that blankets the region during harvest—locals and winemakers describe it as the rich smell of the soil right before the grapes get picked. It’s earthy, ripe, slightly sweet… and undeniably unique. I knew it was the type of scent that would make for a mind-blowing fall candle, and I also knew that if we were going to partner with a hotel to launch it, it absolutely had to be Solage. We started chatting with the Auberge team shortly after my trip, and following the success of our collaboration with the Hotel Jerome (an Auberge Resort) they were immediately on board,” she shared.
Silberman’s process for creating the candles begins with lightbulb moment typically while visiting a new destination or property. From there, she’ll start thinking through how she can translate the essence of a place into a scent, and consider how the visual elements would help support the fragrance story. “For the Napa Valley candle, everything came together fairly quickly—the scent notes, the packaging, and the hotel felt like a perfect marriage,” she explained. “The inspiration for the candle came not only from the warm, inviting energy of the hotel, but also the land itself, and the process of making its famous wine: minerality of dirt, crisp air, ripe fruit, winding vines, oak barrels. One of the most memorable aspects of Solage, to me, are the teeming mulberry trees found throughout, so we knew that mulberry notes would also be integral to the fragrance. For the design, we really leaned into the rich color of red wine. Both the outside packaging and the vessel itself are a saturated shade of Cabernet. And as a special touch, we decided to include a small gift tag on each candle that was inspired by the hotel’s signature luggage tags.”
For Solage, giving guests a way to capture their stay via the candle is way for them to take home their favorite memories, “Scent has a way of bringing back our favorite memories, and we are excited to help guests relive their time at Solage with the Napa Valley candle, inspired by our property. By lighting this candle at home, we hope it transports you back to those special moments—whether it’s lounging poolside, savoring dinner at Solbar, or unwinding fireside as the sun sets,” said Dave Elcon, General Manager at Solage, Auberge Resorts Collection.
The scent notes include Black Currant Berries, French Oak, Sweet Soil, Crushed Green Leaves and Mulberry Trees. Guests will be able to experience the candle upon arrival featured in the eception area, spa, and in-room mini bars. The Napa Valley Candle will be available for purchase at all of these locations and online.
