Boeing named longtime tech leader Dana Deasy as its next chief information digital officer and senior vice president of information technology and data analytics.
He reports to President and CEO Kelly Ortberg and will serve on the company’s executive council. He succeeds Susan Doniz, who left the aerospace giant late last year.
Deasy held the top technology post at the U.S. Department of Defense from 2018 through the end of the first Trump administration in 2021. Since then, he’s had a portfolio of work he described on LinkedIn as a mix of “advisory services, boards, teaching and startups…mixed in with some retirement.”
Prior to his role at the Pentagon, he oversaw a major technology overhaul as global CIO at JPMorgan Chase. He has held IT leadership roles at BP, General Motors, Tyco International and Rockwell Space Systems, among other companies.
“With the need to stay vigilant to protect against cyber threats, and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence playing a larger role across all industries, our IT team will have a key role as we focus on meeting our safety and quality goals, delivering reliably for our customers and positioning ourselves for the future,” Ortberg said in a statement.
