Shake Shack on Friday named Justin Mennen as its next Chief Information and Technology Officer. He’ll oversee Shake Shack’s IT department and work closely with the executive team to identify new ways technology can improve business processes and enhance the guest experience.

He starts Jan. 13 and reports to CEO Rob Lynch.

Mennen most recently was Chief Digital and Technology Officer at Rite Aid, where he improved online platforms and modernized systems across 2,400 stores. He’s held technology leadership positions with Estee Lauder, CompuCom and Dell Technologies, among others. He sits on the board of PetMeds.

Mennen joins Shake Shack “at a pivotal time in our growth, and we’re confident his expertise will play a key role in elevating our operations and delivering an even better experience for our guests,” Lynch said in a statement.

Shake Shack, which opened its first location in New York City’s Madison Square Park in 2004, now has more than 550 locations globally. It brought in over $1 billion in revenue in fiscal year 2023.

The company leverages a range of technologies in its stores, including self-service ordering kiosks. On the company’s October earnings call, Lynch noted plans to develop a systematic customer loyalty program to improve the guest experience and boost sales.

Mennen succeeds Dave Harris, who is now CTO for Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurants.

“I look forward to collaborating with the team to drive growth, advance our digital capabilities and deliver solutions that fuel Shake Shack’s ongoing success,” Mennen said.
