With Halloween being one of the busiest days of the year for pizza consumption, Gail Becker, founder of CAULIPOWER, has been gearing up all month long to celebrate and prepare for the occasion. And it’s no surprise that National Pizza Month also falls in October given the demand. While restaurants and delivery services can see a massive spike on Halloween, the freezer aisle is also in high demand for pizza. Becker’s mission when starting CAULIPOWER was to give great-tasting, gluten-free pizza options for those who are sensitive or allergic to gluten.
“I love National Pizza Month because it allows us to explore all of the creative ways to enjoy pizza. We’re constantly innovating to bring consumers a great tasting, healthy alternative and it’s important to us to offer an inclusive table that everyone can enjoy! Pizza is our thing and with several new products available – from nostalgic pizza bites to more indulgent pies with “over-the-top” premium ingredients and our plain crusts for sweet or savory creations – there is really something for everyone,” she shared. “Halloween is a perfect fit with National Pizza Month. There are so many ways to get creative and involve the kids as well. Sneak in some veggies and turn our classic veggie pizza into creepy crawly fun by creating a spider web with mozzarella and adding spooky olive “spiders” on top. Or wrap pizza bites in strips of your favorite cheese to look like mummies that are both adorable and delicious!”
Over the past year, CAULIPOWER launched several new pizza products and broke into the snack category with a first-of-its-kind baked Pizza Bite that delivers on the nostalgic pizza bite experience people know and love. The “Over the Top” line was also created to emulate an indulgent restaurant experience at home with pizzas made from premium ingredients on a certified gluten-free, stone-fired cauliflower crust. The brands cauliflower-coated all-natural Chicken Bites, has also been very popular complementing the various pizza options.
Given that Halloween is not only filled with candy but easy-to-grab snacks and bites, CAULIPOWER sees a huge uptick in sales. “Halloween is one of the biggest days of the year for pizza lovers, second only to the Super Bowl. As families prepare for a night of trick-or-treating, pizza consumption soars, with sales across the frozen pizza category increasing by 7% in the weeks leading up to Halloween and 10% of buyers’ total spend in the category is in October,” Becker explained.
As a mother of two sons with Celiac Disease, Becker, occasions and holidays were always difficult to find gluten free options especially at events or parties. As the number one gluten-free pizza crust in US, everyone can enjoy celebrating together with their favorite comfort foods. It remains her mission to eliminate the need for consumers to ever have to choose between taste, health and convenience.
