3 Hobbies That Can Pay Up To $1,000+ A Week In 2025

by admin

Look around you. Scroll through job boards. Check out the roles people list on their LinkedIn profiles. Now do the exact same thing in five years’ time.

Only 15% of these traditional job titles will remain, and about 85% of the jobs that you’ll see in 2030 do not exist today. Why?

Because of a new-found type of work called “the passion economy.”

“With the passion economy becoming mainstream, new kinds of careers drawing upon a person’s intrinsic curiosity will become the norm,” the World Economic Forum predicted in 2022. Many professionals are leaving (or considering leaving) their current jobs because of this one primary ingredient–passion.

That’s what FlexJobs discovered in their 2024 survey of more than 3,000 U.S. professionals, which showed that 61% of workers prioritise “meaningful work” when weighing up their career advancement options–to the extent that following one’s sense of meaning and passion was ranked within the top 10 factors workers considered to be most important in a new job.

We are wired as humans to find satisfaction and joy in our work. After all, work is where we spend at least a third of our lives–particularly during our prime years. Sometimes, a job may not be outright toxic (it may not have obvious red flags and the work environment and culture could be perfect) but it’s toxic for you because it stifles your growth and creativity. The pay and working conditions could be perfect, but deep down in your heart you know that’s not where you’re supposed to be.

You might have heard the often-repeated quote, “Find a job you enjoy, and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.” But what does that really mean?

Sometimes, the answer to finding a job you love may not lie in anything an employer can provide for you. Often the solution lies within you, in something that you already practice as a hobby or have a strong interest in, which you can do independently of a traditional job. You might be able to turn this into profit later. And once you get started, you’ll wish you started much earlier. Often we delay following our passions, not because we’re powerless, but because we make excuses like, “I don’t have the time,” “I’m not really an expert,” or “this won’t make any money.”

3 Hobbies To Make Money In 2025

But if you’re creative and innovative enough to push past barriers and think outside the box, you can actually turn the things you’re passionate about into some serious cash–and even build an entire career from it.

Looking for ideas? Check out these three hobbies to spark your creative juices:

1. Sports, Dance, And Music

If you enjoy the arts (like guitar, violin, singing, and dance) or you’re an avid sportsperson (for example you enjoy tennis, golf, basketball, baseball, or surfing) did you know that you can monetize your passion by offering coaching? You don’t need to have a licence or specific qualification, although it does help boost your credibility if you have specialized experience or certification to teach the skill. Platforms like Teach Me To allow you to apply to be a freelance coach specializing in a wide range of disciplines, and their platform handles payments, bookings, and admin in the background.

Coaches within these disciplines can get paid between $20 to $50 on average, so if you held about 20-30 lessons a week, you could make as much as $1,000 or more weekly.

2. Baking

Many people find baking to be a highly therapeutic labor of love, and could spend hours at a time carrying on their family’s baking traditions and playing with new recipes and combinations, especially when it comes to cake decorating or pastry art. If you’re one of those people who enjoys baking as a hobby but shrinks from the idea of setting up your own bakery because it would be too stressful and demanding, don’t worry, there are plenty of other lower-maintenance ways to profit from this hobby, such as:

  • Selling baked goods online as gifts or for special occasions, via your own website, Etsy, or even Facebook Marketplace
  • Hosting baking classes incorporating the unique flavors of your country or the area where you live, on Airbnb Experiences
  • Starting a corporate subscription box service for your baked treats, allowing businesses to use your baskets of baked goods in their offices, for office parties, and as gifts or hampers for employees
  • Selling baking mixes and DIY kits as a subscription service
  • Launching and monetizing a YouTube channel where you upload baking tutorials
  • Creating a baking blog and using affiliate links to recommend products

Let’s imagine you sell corporate baked treats for a small office for $100 a box, and the client orders once a week. For 10 corporate clients alone, you’d be making $1,000 a week, and as a supplier for larger offices or corporate functions, you can earn significantly more.

3. Studying And Researching

Did you know that you can get paid to study? Well, not directly of course, but if you enjoy researching facts and understanding the how and why behind things and events, you can launch your own blog or YouTube channel sharing simplified guides and explainer content for those who don’t have the time to research on their own.

Break complex concepts into easily digestible content–especially if you’re teaching digital or tech skills, and share your screen while talking where possible, In fact, you can even create an entirely faceless YouTube channel and monetize it through YouTube’s partner program which is available to creators.

The pay-outs from this can be limitless, since you can have corporate sponsorships for your channel, use affiliate links, and of course get paid by YouTube for allowing ads and having premium subscribers.

You can monetize anything that you’re passionate about. As long as there is a clear demand and you have a well-defined marketing strategy, you can build a lucrative income from your hobbies and actually get paid to do what inspires you and brings you fulfilment and happiness.

And remember, you don’t need to feel confined to the ideas listed in this article. Get creative and feel free to carve a path that no one has attempted before. After all, the new job titles of 2030 will be shaped by innovative professionals like you…those who do not define themselves by the jobs that exist, but pursue their passion and create something new and unique.
